Ceramic Expo Bangladesh 2025 held

Staff Reporter: The Ceramic Expo Bangladesh 2025 concluded with a four-day event. Organized by the Bangladesh Ceramic Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BCMEA), this year's exhibition proves that the country's ceramic industry is on the path of rapid transformation. As many as 135 companies and 300 brands from 25 countries, including Bangladesh, participated in the exhibition at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital. The expo was attended by local and foreign visitors. This year's awards are given to companies that have previously participated in the event. Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali handed over the awards to the winners.

One of the highlights of the exhibition was the special seminars and discussions on the future technologies of the industry, design trends and eco-friendly production. Entrepreneurs, researchers and experts of the country are getting an opportunity to get an in-depth understanding of the demands of the international market and modern production methods. The fair features three seminars, job fairs, B2B and B2C meetings, live demonstrations and new product launches highlighting the diversity and technological advancement of the industry.

According to the entrepreneurs, the use of automation, advanced digital printing, robotic handling and sensor integrated products will make the future production system faster and more cost-effective. Entrepreneurs believe that the opportunity to get acquainted with these technologies will give the industry a new level of global competition.

At present, more than 70 factories of tableware, tiles and sanitaryware have been set up in the country, where the market size is about Rs 8,000 crore annually. The export of ceramic products to more than 50 countries generates an annual revenue of about Rs 500 crore. The total investment in the industry is more than 18 thousand crore rupees and employment has been created for about five lakh people.

Industry officials say that not only ceramic products, but also raw materials and machinery stalls are of great interest in the fair. International buyers are also satisfied with the products and one or two have already started the order process.

According to BCMEA, there is now an investment of more than Rs 18,000 crore in the ceramic sector in the country. 85% of the country's demand for tiles, 92% for tableware, 59% for sanitary ware and about 99% for ceramic bricks is being met through local production. In the financial year 2023-24, tableware 292 million, tiles 237 million, sanitaryware 163 million and ceramic bricks 1064 million were produced. The total market size of the country is about Rs 9,500 crore. Ceramics can be the second largest export sector if policy support is provided.

BCMEA President Moynul Islam said: "After apparel, ceramics can be the second largest export sector of the country if we get policy support. Earlier, it was completely dependent on imports, but now more than 80 percent of the products are manufactured in the country. '
